Embracing her faith

As a freelance writer and author, Laura El Alam ’97 is never short of ideas. Born and raised in St. Louis, where she attended Catholic schools from first grade through high school, El Alam chose to become a Muslim in 2000 and at the same time wear a headscarf as a symbol of her faith.
